INCOME NOT TO BE TAXED .

DUNEDIN, December 21

A deputation representing the Dunedin Friendly Societies waited on the Minister for Finance (the Hon. W. Downie Stewart) yesterday respecting the taxation of the income from certain sources of the. Friendly Societies. The Minister communicated with the Taxation Department, Wellington, and to-day received the following reply from the Commissioner:—

“The error arose through a newspaper article wrongly including Friendly Societies in the organisations being taxed. The error is being corrected immediately.”
