KINGSFORD SMITH. NEW ZEALAND ITINERARY. WELLINGTON, December 20. , Mr Wilfred Kiugsford-Smith, who arrivod from Sydney to-day to make arrangements for the visit of hits brother in the Southern Cross, says visits will be made to- New Plymouth, Auckland, Hamilton, Napier, • Hastings, Wanganui, Palmertson North, Levin, Mastertou Eienhein, Christchurch, Ashburton, Tiniaru, Oaniaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill. A number of other places will be visited if landing places are suitable for an aeroplane of the size of the Southern Cross are available, ’ but no definite decision will he made. The towns in this category include Whangarei, Daunevirke, Gisborne, Hawera, Hokitika, Alexandria and Gore. Sir Charles Kingsford-Smitli expects to be here till the end of February, and it has beeii practically decided that he will then fly back to Australia. The ninety-mile beach has been provisionally chosen as the take-off place. MACHINE BEING OVERHAULED. AUCKLAND, December 20. While in Sydney recently Mr A. S. Cross, managing director of Fiji Airways, inspected the Southern Cross. "The machine is being given a complete overhaul, and a large fuel tank is being built in the main cabin. Public interest in the flight in Sydney, has nob yet been fully aroused,-but it is bound to increaso as the date of the take-off approaches," he said.
