When tjip ketch Monsunen, of 57 tons, left Copenhagen in Dune, the master and owner, Captain Knud Anderson, intended to make a record trip round the world without calling at any port. He put into Teneriffe, where his wife and family lire, and has now put into Wellington to effect repairs, the craft having been strained. It i s not known how long the Monsunen will remain here, nor what repairs are to be effected. Capta'n Anderson is one of the most widely-read authors in BenmarK, is correspondent for • Danish newspapers, besides 'which lie gives lectures on his travels. The Monsunen carries a master, three saijois, and a cook. The ship struck the monsoon south of Cape Verde, but she continued her voyage. An attempt was made to repeat the visit of a former -voyage to Tristan d-Acunha. Three days or so were spent in the teeth of a westerly gale. After Ithis the .ship’s (condition became worse. As the result of strain, she put into Storm Bay, near Hobart, where patches were put on her leaks above the. water lme, whil 0 the vessl cruised about. Before leaving Copenhagen, Captain Anderson was approached in regard to the lost Danish training vessel, Kobenhavn, many people believing that the missing ship might be a castaway on some island. He promised to keep a lookout, and in furtherance of this promise, he visited the Auckland Islands. There was no sign ot auy men or wreckage there. When a thousand mile. s south of New Zealand, Hie"'vessel's leaks became worse. The crew were at the pumps at night. It was decided to make the nearest land. Hence s h fi put in at Wellington. The craft carries only sail.
