WESTLAND SHOP ASSISTANTS (Per Press Association <J — Copyright.l CHRISTCHURCH, December 20. Conditions of work and wages of retail shop assistant's on the West Coast have been, drawn up by the Arbitration Court. Tbe award provided for a minimum wage of 80s (jd a week to fully qualified assistants and 94s (id a week to branch managers. A week’s holiday on full pay in every year is provided for, and the number of juniors in any shop is limited to two for the first senior, and one additional junior to each additional senior, provided that for every five seniors one additional junior may be employed.
