AT DARGAVILLE SIX PERSONS DISQUALIFIED. (Per Press Association Copyright.) December 19.
Seven disqualifications were imposed by the J udioial Committee oil the Dargavilie Racing Club as the result of a further inquiry into, the running of a Handicap .at Dargavide on Decern Her 3rd. The f olio wing are .the terms of tne disqualification :
The horse, Bronze Tray: Three years.
R. A. Powell, of Dargaville, owner of Bronze Tray: Three years. C. R. Powell, or Whangarei, brother of R. A. Powell: Three years. Hector Gray, of Takanind, trainer: Three years.
A. G. -Murray, jockey: Two years. R. E. A. Horne, jockey: One year. L. Clifford, apprentice jockey: One year.
The ground of tlx© disqualifications wag that the persons named were guilty of a. corrupt and fraudulent practice by conspiring to assist Tetrarchate to win the President's Handicap. The President's Handicap- carried a stake of £126, and was run over a distance of nine furlongs. It resulted ns follows: 4 Alloy, W, H. Marias’ 8.9 (0. W, Mclnftlfly) 1 1 Tetrarchate, 0. M. Emanuel’s 7.0 (H. Gilmer) 2 5 Hannibal, H, Swaffield’s, 7.0 '(Horne) 3
Also started.—3 Bronze Tray, R. A. Powells’, 9.5 (A. G. Murray); 2 Thespis, G. Hod'gson’is, 7.4 car. 7.0 (L. Clifford). Won by half a length; with a length between second and third. Time 2.1 4-5. The race was one of the most curious seen on an Auckland course for a long time, and the only excitement in the contest was when Alloy ran past the odd’s on favourite, Tetrarchate, in the straight and beat him home by half a length. F*rom the start, Tetrarchate set a slow pace and along the back was about two lengths ajhead of Alloy, wiitli Thespis, Hannibal and Bronze Tray following at intervals. The field spread out for a surprising distance, considering the <?low pace.' that was made, and Tetrarchate appeared certain to win when he came into the straight a good two lengths clear of Alloy and Hannibal, who swung wide round the turn. However, Tetrarchate finished weakly in the circumstances, and Alloy beat him comfortably at the end. The value of the form in the race may be gauged from the fact that nine furlongs t<x>k 2min. 1 4-5 sec., whereas Lady Vane won a mile later in the day in lmin. 41 1-osec.
Gay Idea, an acceptor for the Auckland Cup, will now be unable to start, a® she is owned by Mr M. W Powell, wife of 0. R. Powell.
