GREYHOUND RACING
ILLEGAL USE OF TOLALTSATOR. MUCH INTEREST AROUSED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, December 17. Considerable interest has been aroused by a judgment of the Lord Chief Justice in King’s Bench Court to-day, the effect of which is to render illegal the use of the totalisator on the greyhound racing tracks, in which, approximately three million pounds, lias been invested in recent years, and which are patronised by a huge public. The shares of th<s greyhound racing companies, the present value of which is estimated at about ten million pounds, were marked down on the stock exhange this afternoon. The decision will probably algo affect the tote clubs, the number of which has been increasing rapidly in recent months, and may reach one thousand in the whole of England. The judgment in this case is final, but the newspapers forecast that the matter will he taken to the House of Lords on another case now in the Chancery Court. Greyhound racing meetings are being held in several places to-night, and. according to the statement, of their managers, the totalisator will he in use.
