LONDON, December 5. George Cook, tlie Australian boxer, has evolved a successful new plan for getting into the limelight, states the Daily Mail. Patrons going to the Blackfriars ring to see Larry Gains fight a German, received a ' pamphlet containing a portrait of Cook, and titled, “Why won’t Gains fight me? Is he afraid because I have beaten him?” (Subsequently Gains offered to meet Cook at any time, if the Australian produced £2OO for a side wager. George 'Cook, who is 34 years of age, has had a long career abroad. He returned to Australia some time ago and defeated Tiger Tayne in Sydney. Cook has met.some of the. finest fighters in the world, including Young Stribling, but has never risen to anything like championship heights.
