INTOXICATED IN MOTOR CAR, AUCKLAND, December 15. A storeman, Harry Sands, aged 50, was charged in the Police Count yesterday, before Mr W. It. McKean, S.M-, with being intoxicated while in charge Of a. motor-car in Queen Street on December 10. Mr Allan Moody, who refircyented accused, entered a plea of guilty.

Detective-Sergeant Kelly said Constable Julian noticed accused at 7.15 p.m. attempting to start a car. The constable ordered accused to leave the vehicle, and it was then apparent that he was under the influence of liquor. Accused was not in a fit state to drive the car. “My client has not been in trouble before,” stated counsel. “I understand tiro police do not regard this as a bad case.” The Magistrate.: I think all cases of intoxication are bad. “But this one is not as had as some,” counsel replied.

Accused was fined £ls, in default six weeks’ imprisonment, and his license w'ais cancelled for 12 months. A week was allowed in which to pay.
