Wyatt won the toss and opened with Sutcliffe. The Yorkshireman -> batted brightly, scoring 101 in one hour six minutes. He Hit two sixers and six fours. Pataudi played attractive cricket, scoring a century in one hundred and thirty-nin© minutes. He hit eight fours. The total reached three hundred in 223 minutes. Grimmett 56, Richardson 28 and Nitschke 8. In the bowling O’Reilly took 4 for 47, Stewart 3 for 35, Howell 3 for 61. New 'South Wales in the first innings- lost none for 76.
CANTERBURY TEAM AT HOKITIKA
During the Christmas holiday season, a tour of the West Coast will bo made by a Canterbury cricket team, about ten days being spout in the district. Matches will be played at Hokitika, Greymouth, Reefton and Ikamatua.
The itinerary of the visiting team is as follows:—v West Coast at Greymouth, December 26 and 27; v Southern Sub-Association, at Hokitika, December 28 and 29; v Greymouth oolts XV, December 30; v Ikamatua, December 31; v Reefton, January 2. The team returns to Christchurch on January 3.
The Southern Sub-Association team which will be as nearly representative "s possible, will be selected after this week-end’s matches.
