Members of the Arawa tribe have taken a definite stand with regard to the continuance of the Treaty of AVaitangi, as• they do rot agree with the Sovr hern 'Maori petition against the treaty. Mr FT. Tai M'trh'dl ise”t a telegram to the Prime Minister intimating that a resolution was unanimously carried hv 't-h© tribe assembled at Ohinemutu A—That the petition presented to Parliament regarding the Treaty of AVaitangi be not given effect to. As far r.s the Arawas are coneerned the ormeiple of total equality as .set out in clause 3 of the treaty i.s not dcrv’rable during this transitory period, although equality should be the eventual goal. The Arawas h ;n ve full confidence in the fairness of the Parliament of this country to accept the operation of its will.
