ANOTHER OPIUM FINE. (Per Press Association Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. A Chinese market gardener, )\ce Chung, aged 31, was fined £4O at the Magistrate’s Court to-day, for being in possession of uteusils for use in the snicking of opium. The ‘ evidence was that many Chinese visited the defendant's house for the smoking of opium.

The 'Conciliation Council to-dav is considering the depute of hotel restaurant employees, a Dominion dspute (with the exception of Auckland industrial district where an agreement has already been reached).
