COUNTY COUNCIL DECISION, (Per Press Association Copyright.) TAURANGA, December 14. The question of reducing salaries was discussed at length at a meeting of the Tauranga County Council yesterday anj a. motion was carried making a reduction of 5 per cent on all salaries and wages except those of the engineer, the engineer’s staff and the overseers. A motion was carried to the effect that the council greatly appreciates the Prime Minister’s proposal to reduce interest rates on loans. The council feels that a reduction should be made and also knows that to do any great good the reduction must be general, and it believes that this low rate of interest should continue until the depression breaks.
