Advice has been received by the Greymouth Automobile Association that the Highways Board have given instructions t 0 bridge Peg Leg Creek, on top of the Otira Gorge. This creek, during the past two years, lias given motorists a great deal of trouble. Sfjtiefiic/tion was expressed [by tho members of the County Council at last evening’s meeting at the reviving move in connection with 'sawmilling in the district. The meeting last evening dealt with three applications relating to new mills being established at Teremakau, Koiterangi and Wataroa respectively. In connection with the last mentioned, the Waitangi river will require to he bridged to afford the necessary access. The inroadj of the Okarito river threatens the local cemetery on the north; side of the river. The County Chairman (Mr Murdoch) mentioned last night that the council was reluctant to remove the bodies except in case of emergency. Meantime proposals have emanated from Okarito for the protection of the river, and which if carried into effect would he a great help to the harbour. The new cemetery at Okarito lias been opened off Okarito read and is remote from possible damage. To-day Mr Murdoch telegraphed to the Minister of Marine supporting the request of Okarito residents for the protection suggested. Among the proposals for discussion at thfe annual conference of the Victorian Labour Party, to be held at the end of January, is one by the Billposters’ Union that the conference urge the Federal Government that the Prince of AValcs be appointed the next Governor-General of Australia. The union officials state that the Prince was a bona fide trade unionist, as he was and lias been since 1926 a life members of the Billposters’ Union. The secretary of the union, Mr J. Cochrane, said that when elected, the Prince, through his private secretary had thanked the union for having elected him a life member, and every year about this time lie sent a letter to the union conveying the compliments of the season.

The report of the committee of inquiry into alleged cures at the Revival Firo Mission,'which lias been conducted in Auckland by Mr A. 1). Dallimore, has been released. The inquiry was conducted by representatives of the Churches and the medical profession, and the report states: —“In presenting this report on certain cases of alleged healing by faith, the committee feels itself bound at the outset to express its regret that tho missioner lias taken up and maintained the attitude of absolute refusal to co-oper-ate in any way with the committee in the endeavour to elucidate the facts, hi spite of the startling claims made in 1 respect of miraculous cures effected by the Revival Fire Mission, it , our duty to report that neither Mr Dallimore nor any of his paients has come forward to substantiate the testimonies either quoted from his book, ‘Healing by Faith,’ or those proclaimed from tho public platform.”
