The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, who arrived m Dunedin on an official visit on Saturday afternoon, addressed a crowded gathering of young people in the Town Hall this afternoon. FOOD POISONING
CHRISTCHURCH, December 13,
Thirteen cases of food poisoning were reported last week from the Karitane Baby Hospital, Cashmere. It is understood that the majority of those affected were members of the staff.

CHRISTCHURCH, December 13
An inmate of the Girls' Home, Burwood, absconded yesterday morning, but enjoyed her liberty for only a short while. She wag returned to the home in the afternoon.
MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED
TIMAKU, December 13. As the result of a collision in Evans Street late last night, between a motor cyclist and a lorry, the rider of the cycle, Frank Alexander Hall, aged 21, of Tiiuaru, lost his life. No one witnessed the accident. The cycle took fire and deceased's clothes became alight, while the contents of the lorry also suffered. Th e blaze was extinguished by the fire brigade.
LADY FERGUSON’S CONDITION. WELLINGTON, December 13. Telegraphic advice lia s been received by Lord Bledisloe that Lady Alice Ferguson, who met with a serious accident in Scotland recently, is making slow, but satisfactory progress.
