SPREADING FALSE REPORTS.
BELFAST, December 6
Sydney Redwood, editor o.'. the “Irish News,” was fined LICO to-da.v for spreaumg false reports like.y to interfere with peace.
The newspaper printed an anonymous letter urging that the Prime oi Wales’ guard of honour should bo soldiers instead of six-foot, policemen, and adding: “We Ulsterites don’t want outsiders nor our guard •of honour composed of liars and perjurers.” The prosecution contended that there was the innuendo that, the Royal .Ulster ' constabulary • • were lini's and perjurers and could not he trusted.
An inspector, in evidence, disagreed with the defence’s suggestion that the re efenco might apply to the. 10.000 Orangemen lining the streets.
