HOKITIKA ROAD RACE,
The first of this year’s Gillman Cup races was run yesterday afternoon. The alteration of the “out and in” course to one of Japs was a decided improvement from the spectators’ point; of view. The result was: E. - Ooofc (ssec.), 1; S. Havill (lOsee.), 2; E. Ol'sen (205e0.), 3. The winner’s, times for the laps were:—First lap, 6min. 2osec.; second lap, fimin. oOgec.; .third lap, 6min. 50sec. Time for course, 23min. ssec.
Also started : —R. Olsen (20sec.), R, Hewlett (15see.), R. Saxon (60sec.), J*. Diedrichs (90sec.), A. Johnson (90see.)„ Johnson fell twice at the turns.
