IN MID-OCEAN

TRANSFERENCE OF STOWAWAYS.

(Per Press Association — Copyright.)

AUCKLAND, December 5

Shortly after the Matson liner, Monterey, which arrived at Auckland today, left Los Angeles, two young men, who had hidden in an empty stateroom, were discovered. The master, Captain A. G. Townsend, got in touch with the liner “Malolo” by wireless, and the two ships met, by arrangement, at a. point midway between Los Angeles and Honolulu. The weather was fine, and no trouble was experienced in transferring the stowaways from the Monterey to the Malolo, which was bound for America.
