Much-heralded and mysterious Lil Dagover makes her initial bow to audiences in “The Woman From Monte Carlo,” the First National ar.d Vitaphone production, which” comes to the Princess Theatre to-night. The story'concerns Lottie Cor'aix, a captive butterfly, longs for the gaiety of her past in Monte Carlo—chaf.ng at the thoughtless neglect of her husband,' commander of a French battlecruiser. Her vague desires take form when the handsome Lieut. D’Ortelles, a former lover, comes to her husband’s command to escort her to a f’ance on board ship. During the festivit’es war is declared. D’Ortelles. instead of taking Lottie ashore, lingers to make love. They barely escape detection, when Brambourg, the chief officer, who also desires her, comes upon them. Then begin the thrilling comp’exities which permit Miss Dagover to give her memorable portrayal of .all the the moods feminine! The ship is tor-' pedoed—D’Ortelles and Corlaix are wounded—Brambourg, who knows the captain w ; IT be court-martia!le c ] schemes to gain hi s command—D’Ortelles tries deliriously to free his chief, without implicating the wife.
