CONVICT BURGLARS
LEFT GAOL EACH NIGHT ON JOBS. BERLIN, November 30. A gang of burglars that has been using the gaol in Pe.izlin (MecklenburgSchwerin) as its headquarters for several months, has been broken up by the conviction of the ringleader, Eichhorn, who is serving a sentence of seven years. Eichhorn as a reward for “good conduct,” was employed in the prison workshop where he made duplicate keys with which prisoners were enabled to escape each night after the solitary warder had locked their cells and retired to his own quarters. Eichhorn stole a suit frhm the public prosecutor’s house, and wore it during his escapades. He also carried a revolver, which he had stolen from the Police Court. The gang hid its booty in houses in the town and in tlie cells, and its members were, rapidly making fortunes when a fellow-prisoner betrayed them. Eichhorn wag convicted on fourteen charges of burglary, and was sentenced to a further seven years’ imprisonment.
