A PLEA EOlt PRESERVATION

Playing that steps should b e taken for the preservation of native 11 ora on public and private property, a petition was presented to the House of Representatives to-day on behalf of Johannes C. Andersen and 89 others.
Petitioners said they viewed with grave alarm the wanton destruction of the Dominion’s native flora, and wished to draw the attention of the House to the destruction of flora resulting from its use for stivet decoration, external decoration of buildings, and internal decoration for public and' private, functions. They urged also that forest destruction should be stopped and that people should be restrained from taking flowers, ferns, plants, and foliage from other people’s properties without permission.
