REASON FOR NON-APPOINTMENTS (Per Press Association Copyright.) CHBISTCHURCH, December 1. One of the v chief reasons for the non-selection of New Zealand Rhodes scholars this year was the lack ot unanimity among the members of the selection 3 committee,** according to a statement made by Professor McMillan Brown, when interviewed this morning on bis return from Wellington. He added that there was no lack of suitable candidates, some of whom would again be available for nomination next year. l The Rhodes Trust Board would he communicated with to see if at least one of the scholarships not awarded this year would be carried over to increase the number next year. ' Professor McMillan Brown said three members o!’ the committee favoured the appointment of one candidate, and two favoured another candidate, while the rest of Ahe committee were at sixes and sevens..
