PARIS FASHIONS
REASON FOR POWERFUL POSITION. LONDON, November 17. The strong position held by Paris in the world of fashion has been largely due not only to excellence, but also to, the power to anticipate what will catph popular 'taste, and to early preparation for -the demand. A new British organisation, the British Colour Council, has well-advanced plans, in hand for placing London in an advantageous position for forecasting fashions. Supported by the dyestuffs interests, and with a large backing of manufacturers, the council is hoping to do much to help products to find a.place in the Dominion 'and foreign markets, not only, by anticipating the fashionable cplr’r of the season, but also by preparing for it by making it possible for manufacturers and retailers to have stocks ready to meet the special demands. , s Artists and experts at the council are working out in, advance; different combinations of colours to suit what is expected to be the .prevailing fashionable colour for approaching seasons, and schemes of house decoration.
