BURGLARY CHARGE.

CHRISTCHURCH, November 26

Horace Neil Christensen, aged 32, a confectioner, of Barrington Street, was charged before Mr H. A. Young, S.M., this morning with breaking and entering the shop of Frank A. Cook, Ltd., in Colombo Street, on July 15th, and committing theft. He was remanded until December 6th, with bail at £2OO and one surety of £2OO.

DANGER OF AVAR

CHRISTCHURCH, November 26

Prominent membra- of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand League of Nations Union agreed today that Air Winston Churchill’s warning of war in the future was timely. They agreed that if the German people decided to rearm the result would be a general increase in the armaments of all nations. “The next few months will be vital as far as the League of Nations is concerned,” said Mr A. C. Brassington, “but unless public opinion is behind the League it will probably fail to surmount the present crisis cf its existence.”

FOUND DEAD

BLENHEIM, November 26

A lone goldminer named Ernest McKenzie, aged about 60, was found lying'dead on the floor of his whare oil the west bank of the Wakamarina River, about a mile from Ca»va s town. Deceased had a small claim and was sinking a shaft. He lived alone in a rough whare, and was seen only at irregular intervals. His body was found on the floor, fully clothed, there being no signs of a struggle. The medical opinion is that death was from natural causes.
