DANXEVIRKE, November 23
Proficiency examination papers in o n© of 'Dannevirke’s primary schools, had an unusual experience yesterday, being stolen from the rooms at an hotel occupied by Inspectors McCasKl! and Biseetf, by a relief worker from a * camp who said 'he'wanted money. Two .attache cases containing the examination papers were stolen, the hest from Mr McCaskill's room and subsequently left in a shop in another part of the town. He then returned to the hotel and took Mr Bissell’s bag. The owner arrived on the scene, and recognising his property, secured it after a He endeavoured to take the man downstairs but had -to leave him to get assistance and the thief got away .by the fire escape but was intercepted by the licensee and handed to the police.
The examination papers were recovered intact, and for th© theft .Richard Reeves, received three months’ on each of two charges.
