.. It seepis imppspible for the clever and beautiful' Constance Bennett to make a bad picture. M-G-M’s talkie version of the' great stage “Uhe Easiest Way,” presents the star in one of her very best interpretations. “Laura Murdoch” is undoubtedly one of the mostopqignant portraits of a woman’s, emotions ever placed on the screen. , The star is .ably seconded in her endeavours by-two of the best masculine performers' in - the business. Adolphe Menjott antf*Rbbert Montgomery. Marjorie Rartibeau repeats with r'Elfie” the success'-bf “Bella” in “M.jn and Bill,” first attempt in the talkies. Anita Page is fine as ‘‘'Peg,” Laura’s sister, while Clark Gable, stape star of “The Last Mile.” makes hisjfilm debut'ay “Nick,” Ani-
ta’s husband. J. Fairell Macdonald and Clara Blandick are- more ' than ade-

BOY SOPRANO
LEX MACDONALD CONCERT.
Master'Lex Macdonald, the brilliant boyi soprano whose voice has received the highest praise from musical critics wherever he has sung, >yill be heard at the Princess Theatre on Saturday November 26th. Las. week he visited Wellington where he was received with great enthusiasm. The following is an extract fom the report of a concert, published in the Wellington ‘.‘Evening Post” : “The large audience at the Lex MacDonald concert in the main Town Hall soon understood —and joined in—the sensation- created by the Tunedin boy’s marvellous soprano. The voice filled the Town Rjjall in a way that few others have filled that space, and with purity and flexibility and sweetness quite uniqpe. As there were moments when the boy’s voice, was heard entirely by itself, unsupported either vocally or instrumentality, there was quite ample opportunity to observe this sweetness combined with carrying power; and it is not too much praise to say . that through a vocal medium of such unusual tonal purity and range wellknown music c-afi take a deeper ran^e.
Capable artists support the .star. The concert will open at 8. 31* p.m., while Lex MacDonald will not appear till 9 p.m., enabling shopkeepers 'to hear the talented vocalist.
