“OPENING” OF LIGHT RAILWAY ■

The advertised opening of a light railway at ltoydon Hall, near Hiss,
Norfolk, recently proved to be a hoax, and it became the-chief topic of' discussion in the neighbourhood: Roydon Hall, a large mansi in overlooking the River Mavehey, stands in beautiful grounds between Diss and Thetford and belongs to 'Mr H. A. Frere, who is also lord of the mano .
A notice circulated in the district stated that the opening ceremony would be performed" by the Hon. Miss A. Moiley. l An open-air tea \v r as promised and music by a band of the Guards. Many people made their way to the hall at the advertised hour, but upon arrival no activity could be discovered spd the . mansion was found to be lp.cikydwPp. A member of the outdoor staff 1 ...yns'iunable to throw any 1 ght on the matter, and stated! that the lord of the manor and liis family were till seaside. : After pandering around tlic grounds for a time it dawned on the company that they had been hoaxed and they dispersed. Who! were responsible for circulating the notices is not known.
