An official wireless message states that Major General Carter, general officer commanding the London district, died on Sunday, in tbe hunting fiield in Wiltshire. He had a heart attack while galloping acrossi a field, and fell dead from his horse. He served throughout 1 the! The Court of Appeal has quashed the,,sentence on Signor Gialdini-in connection with the Hatry case, owing to the recent amnesty annulling sentences not exceeding five years.

Gialdini was found guilty of complicity in the frauds for which Charles Hatry was sentenced in England.
