REQUESTS FOR AID
INCREASE IN CHRISTCHURCH. (Per Press Association —• Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 20. “On account of increased applications for help, the managers of the various relief depot s have been at their wits’ end to make the supplies go round,” states Mr J. W. Woodbury, director of the Central Depot. “It is really alarming to find that the numbers are increasing at this time of the year; last year the applications decreased considerably during the summer months,” he said. EMPLOYMENT found for boys. CHRISTCHURCH, November 20. During the past month th e Boys’ Employment Bureau was able to place 102 unemployed boys in positions, 34 of the jobs being on farms, Further positions are still being offered. Most of the farm jobs are permanent. They ar© being filled largely by youths keen to learn farming.
