In tlu House of Representatives this morning, the School Committees Facilities ■ Bill (Mr McKeen) was ■reknd a first time. The measure seeks to legalise prize euchre parties and other card tournaments held with the abject of raising funds for school purposes.

Native Lhnd Laws Amendment Bill was introduced by Governor-General’s message and read a first time.

Sir A. Ngata said the measure embodied some recommendations of the, National Expenditure Commission relating to the administration of native affairs.

Urgency was .accorded the passage of the remaining classes of the estimates.
