A resolution authorising racing clubs to compute dividends on the system of win and place has been adopted by •'.,h e . .executive committee of the Racing Conference, and regulations carrying \into. effect the resolution were issued to-day. Authority, like that of special resolutions providing for payment of first, second and third dividends, is optional. The only further alternative method of computing dividends in the win ,and place system may operate only where there e,re five or more tore numbers. Investments shall be. received separately for win and place, aud shall be shewn and dealt with t ; separate pools. The whole amount o f the win, -l ea» taxation, shall be divided among the hackers of the, winner. In th© case of the place pool, suc-h amount shall be divided into two equal parts for th© backers of first and second horses in fields of five, six, and seven runners ; three equal parts fo,r backers ei first, second, and third in a field of over seven. If dead heats result for anv places, the place pool shall be divided into os many equal parts a.s horses in the first three places, and allotted accordingly.
