Just as for sixty year G the bell at Sydenham School has called scholars tc their tasks iso yesterday if rang U call ex-scholars to the school’s juifii'lee. and in tilths heralding the opening 0 1 tfliA celebrations it provided a seriti’mental' link with the past. There wa* a gathering of over 2000 former pupils and teachers in the 'school 'grounds, and in eager, rapid conversation ac- i companied by much laughter they reviewed the schools story of sixty years. In that reminiscence there was ahl- - leavening of .geriousnees when names of those now dead were i*ecelled. Frorti Auckland to the Bluff and • from nearly ©very province in Nev Zealand former .scholars were visitorsto the jubilee, and messages of good-; will from others unable to attend were received from scores, both in New Zea-, land and Australia.
