BOXER’S DEATH
SUGGESTION BY CORONER
WELLINGTON, November 15.
A verdict according to the mdeical evidence, that deceased died irom haemorrnage of the brain, was returned by the Coroner (Mr.McNeill at an inquest on Ceotfrey Wilson, aged 17, who Hied following a boxing bout on October 11.
The Coroner said that, while not reflecting in any way upon tne \Velniigtoil or any other boxing association, he thought this was a suitable opportunity to state that in his opinion the medical exanuntaion of boxers should be held shortly before the. contest, not as was now possible, three days before a bout. Within three days something might happen to the contestant that he himseli might not know' about.
Regarding the felt underneath the canvas, lie commended the suggestion that the authorities should take steps to see if in any way this might be ifi~ creased.
