H.M.S. VERONICA AND LABURNUM

AUCKLAND, November 16

Information ha.s been received in Auckland that the naval sloops, Veronica and Laburnum, which have been about 42 years on the New Zealand station are to be replaced by vessels of similar design, now being built in England. The new vessels will be oilburners, and faster.

The Veronica is to b e replaced in 1934, and 6h e Laburnum in 1935. The replacement, is said to be part of the PaVal programme which aims at the removing 1 of all wartime from ophimfeSidh- by 1936.
