Following a“ r: spuncl of 'crashing t, sss in Sumner last night a young V.oy named Claude Mortimer, fourteen years of age, the eldest son of the manager of the Self-Help Store, was found on the .roof of the shop verandah. It is stated that he got out of bed asleep at 10.30 p.m. and dived through the glass of his bedroom window. Carrying most of the large pane with him, the boy crshed on the top of the verandah, just missing the part that: was glassed in. Dr. R. F. Bakewell was called in. He found the boy to be suffering from ljttle except a few bruises and severe shock.
