A LATE FROST. (Per Press A s.'.e:lation — Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 14. That the frosts are not over was made apparent by the weather figures supplied by the Observatory to-day. The thermometer read as low as 30.3 degrees during the night, a. frost of 1.7 degrees. This was not enough to do any damage, but serves as a reminder to the amateur gardener that he must still cover up his tomatoes and potatoes if he wants any crops. DEATH-OF MR, ROI.OMAR. GORE, November 13. The death, is 'announced of Mr Erskine Bolomar, aged 56, chairman of the 'Southland Power Board, a member of the Southland County Council, and of the Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union, and numerous local bodies. ■ STOLE BOTTLE OF .MILK.' Described as a man well known in the courts, Wiliam Vinardj .seaman, aged 50, was charged with being an . idle and disorderly person, in that h e laid insufficient, lawful means of iwppdrt ; with the theft of a quart bottle of milk, valued .at Is lid ; and with stealing a -watch valued at £5, the property of William .A. Ohapple. Senior-S e rgeant Denipsey ««id that accused had developed into- a methylated spirits drinker. He was found in the ;Uasin Deserve in the early hours of" yesterday morning holding a bottle of milk which, he informed a police constable, ho had taken from a home in Rugby Street.
