SKULLS FOUND
IN VAULT IN ENGLISH ABBEY

The work of attempting, to discover the lost tunnel at the picturesque ruins cf Lilleshall Abbey in Shropshire, wliere for some years mysterious noises, described as . rumblings and moanings, • has been heard*- was in hand on August 25. These subterranean noises ha ve recently become so pronounced 1 that it' Was - decided to- find and explore the tunnely-if possible;-' Men were at work tinder the altar window both outside the 1 abbey aiin within, and- at a depth of 4ft in the trench underneath the abbey east win--dbw several skeletons and human remains, including* skulls, were found, some of them in an excellent state preservation: Two perfect tiles marked with the Welsh dragon rampant and the remains of an old' vase were also disinterred. •
