Evidence a*'to his'exemplary conduct was given by several witnesses. Two doctoi-s said they were of the opinion that he avaig not mentally normal at the moment of the crime. Counsel for the accused said 'accused well knew that h© could not dispose' of the stolen notes, the numbers of which were known.
Mr Justice Smith said that there mi gut have been some mysterious working of accused’s mind, which induced him to commit this strange crime. It was obvious that he would he detected.
Th‘e jiidg© said th'nt he regarded the circumstances as exceptional; and he hoped that accused would never come before the Cburt again.
