RUGBY, November 9,
Major-General Sir William Salmond died yesterday, aged 92 years. He was the father of two famous airmen—Air Chief Marshal Sir John Salmond and Air Marshall Sir Geoffrey Salmond, Commander-in-Ghief of the Air Defence of Britain,
Major-General 4 Sir Wi'lliam Salmond began hi s military career in 1857 as a lieutenant in the Royal Engineers. He served in the Egyptian campaign in 1882 (dispatches). In 1899 he was granted a distinguished service reward of '£loo a year.
