BURGLAR ESCAPES
AFTER a struggle. AUCKLAND, November 10. After a- desperate struggle, a burglar made his escape from a house at Mount Eden, early Last' night. John Guthrie, chemist, of 2 EdHngton Avenue, found a man in a front bedroom at 9 o’clock and immediately closed with him. In a fierce ehcounter,' he fought the burglar for fully ten minutes, before the latter got one hand clear,’ and struck Guthrie heavily over the head with some blunt instrument' inflicting several' deep, jagged wounds. Guthrie was too dazed to pursue his assailant. To-day he is confined to his 'bed, his head being swathed in bandages. Fortunately, he did not suffer concus-
sion. The bouse occupied by Guthrie was one in which A. H. Drllimore, the revival fire .and faith healer formerly resided About five weeks ago Dalpmore vacated the house, and went to live in Rennie va. Mr and Mrs Guthrie took possession 0 f the house a week ago. Almost daily since then, numbers of- cabers have inquired f.or Pallimore, and were, surprised when they heard no ba removed.
