TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. From ‘‘duardinm” for week ended November 12, 1907. Cricket.—The annual meeting of the Kanieri Cricket Club was held this week when the following officers were elected:—President, Mr W. D. Mackay; viee.-pregidents, Messrs T. J. McGuigan, W. Fleming, A. Naylor, H. Dare, Mrs A. Head and Mrs Taminelli; captain, Mr J. C. Free; vicecaptain, Mr G. Morris; secretary, Mr R. Wells. The balance sheet showed liabilities amounting to £6 10s. Bazaar. —A successsful bazaar was held in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon in aid of the Presbyterian Church fencing fund. The building presented a busy appearanc, and a satisfactory sum Was irealised. The stallholders werd:—Mesdames Nicholson, Good, Irving, Davidson, A. B. King, Hamilton, -and J. Irving, and Misses Wilson, Smith, Heron, B. Wogan, L. Preston, L. Good, Blank, A. and M. Nicholson, and B. Good. New Year Sports.-—The annual meeting of the committee of the Hokitika Sports and Axemen’s Carnival was held last evening, Mr E. WRobuson presiding, lne following officers were elected:—Patrons, T. E. Y. Seddon, Esq, and H. L. Michel, EsQj president,. Mr E. H. Robinson; vicepresidents, Messrs J. Mandl, White, Mabin, W. Duncan, MuTaughton, Drs Macandrew and Teichelmunn; secretaries, Messrs M. Houston and G. Hills; auditors, Messrs Eisfelder, and McGregor. A comprehensive programme of races and events waa drawn up. Golf.—The following players will represent the B division of the flok. tika Golf Club in a match with the Greymouth Club next SaturdayJC. Macf.ulane, C. Folley, W. E. Williams, D. Mackay, Nlaldor, McLean, J. F. White, and G. Moore. YVestland A. and P. Association.— The committee of the Westland A. and P. Association met' yesterday. Present:—Messrs J- S. Lang, Houliston, Robinson, Mclntosh, Jones and Glass. Mr Mcßride was appointed tt represent the Okarito district, and Mr W. Patrick the Waiho district. A committee was appointed to collect prizes and donations.
