NO FURTHER NEWS RECEIVED. (Per Press Association — Copyright AUCKLAND, November 11. At noon to-day no further news of the Southern Grots, or its complement, had been'received by the Melanesian Mission. The wrecked vessel carried a large quantity of stores for the Mission stations, and the insurance of £SOO is considerably less than the value. The vessel also carried £413 in coin for the payment of salaries, but this was insured to the full value. Christmas gifts for the natives which are sent from New Zealand each year have all bbv/n lost, and the work of months wasted. The Mission Board has n't decided whether the old Southern Cross will be recomn K.ioned. Ca.tpain Burgess, master of :lie old vessel, says that the ’distance front Tanna to Vala is about 110 miles, and the launch in which the captain set out was a 30ft.
