The doctor inquired if we had had any smash-and-grab raids at the shop. I told 'him . that there had been raids, but that the intruders had failed to get away with anything, and he said, ‘That is hard luck for them.’ “Tile ‘doctor’ saw the watches and after I had put them away he asked to see them again. Then he excused Inimself and went out of the room with the watches. I waited some time, and then telephoned down to the pro-prietor-of the house. Me told me that Dr Graham had arrived that morning and engaged a suite of rooms at 15 guineas a week.” The thief was believed to be a crm-wial to the police.
