A TOTAL WRECK

Information l!j by Burns, Philip and Company to-day states- the mission vessel Southern. Cross is a total, loss,- but'no lives were lost. - The wreck occurred on November 2nd on: Aneityum. : The captain and three officers, have arrived at Tnnfta, about 30 miles away in a whaleboat. The others remained oh Aneityum with ' ’ a trader. \ ' '
Aiieityum Island is one of the most southei'n islands of the New Hebrides group. ■' The officers, three engineers, tlie cook and steward, and 15 Solomon boys were terribly mauled on the coral. The captain set but for the isle of Fanna, where there is a European habitation, in a whaleboat. He left Fanna for Villa in a brunch I'or assistance in the rescue of the crew, but thus far has not arrived here.
There is grave anxiety, but he may have been picked up by a French trading . vessel. The Southern Cross ran on the reef in a squall..
