LONDON, November 8

Mystery surrounds the death of Robert, the third son of S‘ r Robert Kindersley, who was found spreadeagled on the roof of the lastpassenger train from when it reached Farnham.

~ The head was battered, as if. it had struck a bridge. The body was identified by:'his name on a sock, .and a sweepstake ticket in the name of Audrey Cpates, widow of Major 'Coates, recalling the recent contradiction of her rumoured engagement to Richard. His parents say that Richard stayed in the country for the week-end,, and dined with friends at Worplesflon. .Last night he seemed happy. He drank a glass of Tiber, and motored in the direction of Bagshot to spend the night, but skidded near Brookwo-od. Richard, with , hie head injured, entered the railway station and inquired about the train, for Farnham. His father says that he bel'eves that Richard had concussion, and, unaware of his actions clambered on to the ro °f of the train. A trail of blood wa4 found on the line from th e bridge near .Aldershot to -Farnham.

Railway officials say that Kindersley did not book at Hrookwood, and was was not seen to enter 1 the train. The guard is of the opinion that it was impossible for <a passenger ' to climo on to the roof while the train was in motion! The police doubt that Richard jumped from the bridge, as bis body would have rebounded on to the track. Richard was twenty-seven years of age. He" had led an adventurous career in. Canada, had been a journalist, stockbroker, a.nd banker, and recently visited Hollywood.'
