MAKING PETROL FROM COVL,
LONDON, November 9,
The “Guardian” says tjiat, it is rumoured that negotiations are being completed by Imperial Chemicals for the formation of . a subsidiary company with a capital of ten millions, to produce petrol from coal at Billing.-, ham. It was stated that the increased petrol prices made the scheme practicable. The company originally contemplated making 213,000 tons annually from 850,000 tong of coal.

The city council after ten years’ delay hag decided to give effect to the Martin Place-McQuarrie Street extension scheme. “HEARTSEASE” AT SUVA
SUVA, November 9.
The crew of the Auckland yacht “Heartsease,” which arrived to-day, are all well. The voyage from Whangarei to .Nukualofa occupied twenty-two days, rjnd tlianoe four day to Suva. The crew propose to sail in a weeks time towards Brisbane.
