It is reported that an option has been given by one of the parties over a claim 0 n the Kawarau River from which, during the past few weeks, xioh returns of gold have been obtained.

It is understood that the price at which the option has been given is £15,000, the vendors to receive 15 per cent of the gold won. ,

The option is for six months, and is to be renewable for a further terms of six months.

The official report on the Granites Goldfield says: Little work is done yet, but samples from several cliams showed gold. Eighty men are on the field. The only well is making 14.0 gallons of water daily, though some of this may result from the soakage from recent rains.

Shares in Granites companies have fallen. For instance, Chapman 4 3 6d to 2s 3d. Granites (£5 paid) from £22 to £ls, but at the close there was a stronger tone on change.
