FORGERY CHARGE

Jabez William Mace Luxford was facing trial here to-day on an (indictment of forgery in respect to good 3 supplied to the Technical College Board, The Crown’s case alleges that when a member of the Technical College (Board, Luxford used Ross and .Qlendinning invoices and forms without authority, and signed Boss and Glendinning’s name to vouchers for money received in respect to good invoiced. There are several witnesses, and a lengthy' cross-examination. The defence seeks to prove that the accused had the authority of the firm’s branch manager to use their name. In fact, the accused admits that he signed the vouchers and made the invoices out. When the 'Court adjourned this evening, the case for the defence had concluded. Counsel and Hie Honour will sum up to-morrow. There is another indictment against the accused in respect- to the Wanganui Fire Board. This is based on ' somewhat similar evident, bqt its hearing will come before a separate jury, after the Technical College matter is disposed of.
