[the professional and amateur championships, i .gfb. ..’The/ weather continued perfect throughout the day for the professonal and amateur championships. There was just enough wind both morning and afternoon to keep the players cool. There was a fair sprinkling of spectators, who distributed their interest among many matches, though the greater part oi them naturally followed Shaw 1 .
The Professionals. Details of the scores were:— Shaw beat Blair, 2 and 1. J. A. Clements beat IV S. Galloway, 12 and 11. C. C. Clements beat/ Stratmore, 6 and 5. Branch beat Ritchie, 7 and 6. Moss beat G. Watt, 4 and 3. Mclntosh beat Butters, 10 and B.' Dyke beat Fuller, 4 and 3. Douglas heat Forrest, 0 and 5. / Amateur Championship. Amateur championship first round results are:— Moore beat Troutbeck, 5 and 4. Silk beat McGregor, 8 and 7. Wagg beat Guy, 6 and 4. Bartleet beat Marchbanks, 4 and 2. Hurst beat Savage at the 38 th. Whyte won by default from Saunders.
Parker beat Dolph, 3 and 1. Thomas beat Gregory, 2 and 1. Seymour beat Dawson, 8 and 7. Dr. Ross beat Hayward, 5 and 4. Abbot won by default from Drake. Sime beat Jacobson, 7 and 6. Blank bteat Whitcombs, 7 and 6. A. D. S. Duncan beat Liddle, 9 and 7.
