From Beaumont' there comes the news of a rich stride x>T gold by Mr, James Bell, a farmer, of the district, and Mr Leonard Mason, who is in his employ. •/•y J Foil' the past. 14 months Bell and Mason have,’' in their spare time, been prospecting on the property of Harold Paterson, but they met; with indifferent success until about a week ago. They they commenced to strike some good prospects, which increased in value with each successive pan, and which appeared to indicate that rich yields will be forthcoming 'when a proper. plant for working the ground has been obtained. ■ . ■ 1 ‘ The spot on which" the ; prospectors made their lucßy find is about a 1 mile and a half below Beaumont township, towards Chinaman’© ' Hat. Old retfdents of the district, and others well acquainted with the locality consider that Bell and Mason have hit on the old river bed gold. Yu The gold -seekers are. of the opinion that, if a sufficient prevsure ol water is obtainer 1 , the ground can be easily sluiced, »>.d mor© easily than that on Cromwell Flat, but ar they haw hot . .yet etruck 'bottom, - theit prospect© naturilly ar© not so rich as Cromwell.
