An_ unusual, objection to. an employe, cams under the notice of- the- Auck-,-land Boys’ Employment Committee at i meeting of the executive. The mana-ger,-of -a, 'suburban firm wrote, -saying, that he desired another boy employee in place of. one, who was cot able to .obtain long trousers, Through tli committee, ■ the firm recently engager-: a boy, the letter received by the execu. tive being-, in;, respect to, th;,3 employee. The manager stated in his communi--cation that the boy Was of a satisfactory type, but unfortunately he, wore short trousers, ynd had stated;- that he could not buy long trousCrs, In all other respects, he fulfided the requirements, Ibiit the. ma-u-agef hoped, it would be 'possible' t 0 engage’a boy about: 15 years- -of- age, who Would; wear long trousers and wttb would be- able, toserve behind the -counter. “This is'the ridiculous sort of thing, we have been- 1 required to fate,” commented’ the president of the- committee, My N.
